For a chimney sweep in Carp, ON, Ottawa Precision Chimney Sweep sweeps wood stoves and fireplaces, scans the flue and repairs caps, crowns and brick. Carp is a long way out from our base, so we plan the trip and group it with nearby jobs. We do liners, caps, repointing and rebuilds, and the written price comes before any work starts.

Carp sits in the northwest corner of the city, about 33 km from downtown, and we group it with other west-end jobs on the same day. Here is what we do in Carp:
Chimney cleaning in Carp takes planning, because Carp is far from our east-end base, so we plan trips there in advance and do two or three jobs on the same day. That keeps the price the same as anywhere else in Ottawa. Tell us when you call if a neighbour also needs a sweep, and we can book you both on one day.
If your chimney needs work that depends on weather, like repointing or a new crown, book early in spring. The window between the last frost and the first cold snap is short in the northwest, and it fills fast.
Contact UsCarp is a compact rural community in West Carleton-March Ward, about 33 km from downtown Ottawa. In 1866 it was a post village of 200 people with three stores, three hotels and a town hall. Highway 417 bypassed it, and people across a wide area say they live in Carp.
Carp's older homes include stone and brick farmhouses with chimneys that are well over a century old. Their lime mortar is soft by design and wears out slowly. A repoint with the right mix, and a new liner inside, makes them last another fifty years. We have done about 6 stone repointing jobs around Carp since 2015.
Big rural lots and open fields mean the wind has a clear run at every roof. Tall chimneys on exposed ridges take rain at an angle and flashing loosens sooner. We check the weather faces first and tell you what the wind has been doing. Honestly, we'd pick a cap with a heavier gauge out here.
Many homes around Carp burn wood. A stove in the basement with a long run of pipe fills with creosote faster than a short run. A sweep every fall, and a second in January if you burn daily, keeps the flue clear.
A partial chimney rebuild in Carp costs $2,500 to $6,000 in 2026, and a full rebuild from the roofline costs $4,500 to $9,500. A stone chimney costs more than a brick one. We write the price after we climb up and see how much of the stack is sound.
| Job | Typical price in Carp | Time on site |
|---|---|---|
| Chimney sweep | $175 to $325 | Under an hour |
| Spot repointing | $700 to $1,400 | One day |
| Partial rebuild above the roof | $2,500 to $6,000 | 2 to 3 days |
| Full rebuild from the roofline | $4,500 to $9,500 | 3 to 4 days |
Often, with careful work. We take out only the failing mortar, mix a soft lime-style mortar for the repair and keep the original stone. If a section has failed, a partial rebuild takes it down and puts it back, using the old stone where it is good.
No. Carp is a long drive, so we group it with other jobs in the west end, and the price is the same as everywhere in Ottawa. The only extra is HST. Tell us your road when you call so we can plan the day.
A few Carp lots have a second chimney on an old summer kitchen or outbuilding. Mention it on the phone, and we will look at every stack on the property in one visit.
We climb up, look, and send you the price in writing. If a chimney needs nothing but a sweep, that is all you pay for.
Contact UsInsurers and buyers sometimes ask for one on a wood stove or insert. We arrange it with a partner inspector.

In spring and summer, one to two weeks is usual. In fall, book three to four weeks out. Because Carp is a long way from our base, we plan trips to the northwest in advance and schedule several jobs for the same day.
If you burn wood in it, yes. Older stone and brick flues were built without a liner, and the smoke and moisture slowly damage the mortar from the inside. A stainless liner makes the stack safe again, and we install it in a day.
Yes. We use protective pads and roof-safe boots on metal roofs, and we check the flashing, which is often the weak spot where the chimney meets the panels. Metal roofs can be slippery, so we may reschedule if there is frost or snow.
We sweep chimneys, and the chimney from a wood furnace is the same as any other. Boilers and outdoor furnaces have their own flues and sometimes their own rules. Tell us what you have, and we will say whether it is something we can do.
