For a chimney sweep in Orleans, ON, Ottawa Precision Chimney Sweep cleans the flue, checks the cap, crown and flashing, and fixes what we find. We also put on caps and chase covers, reline flues and repoint old brick. The crew works out of the east end, so Orleans is one of the places we get to first, and we write the price down before any repair starts.

Our crew is based east of Orleans, so a call here is a short drive and not a trip. Orleans keeps us busy all year, and these are the jobs we do most:
Chimney cleaning in Orleans fills the calendar every September and October, when everyone lights the first fire at once. We don't take on more than the crew can do, so the wait for a fall sweep can stretch past two weeks by November.
If you burn wood, book in the summer when the calendar is open and the roof is dry. If a leak or a cracked crown can't wait for a spring repair, tell us when you call. We can usually seal it for winter and plan the proper fix once the temperature stays above about 5 degrees C.
Contact UsOrleans is Ottawa's biggest east-end community, with 139,309 people in 2021, and it grew from about 6,000 residents in 1971 to about 24,000 by 1981. That growth came as subdivisions on old farmland, so a lot of the chimneys we see are 40 years old and built to the same plan.
Most 1980s and 1990s Orleans houses have a metal fireplace sitting in a framed box on the roof, covered in siding to look like a chimney. The flat metal lid on top, the chase cover, is the first thing to rust. Once it does, water gets behind the siding. A new custom cover fixes it.
Orleans was settled in the 1830s by French Canadian families around the parish of St. Joseph, and the older homes near the village centre have real brick and stone chimneys. Those flues often have the original clay tiles, and the mortar is wearing out from years of river damp.
The Ottawa River runs along the north edge of Orleans, and the wind off it drives rain into the south and west faces of chimneys. We find more flaking brick and failed flashing on the exposed faces than on the sheltered ones. We check the weather side first on every visit.
A chimney sweep in Orleans costs $175 to $325 in 2026, the same price as anywhere in Ottawa. A camera inspection runs $250 to $450. The size of the chimney and the steepness of the roof set the number, not the postal code. We write the price down once we have looked.
| Job | Typical price in Orleans | Time on site |
|---|---|---|
| Chimney sweep | $175 to $325 | Under an hour |
| Chimney inspection with camera | $250 to $450 | 1 hour |
| Custom chase cover | $450 to $1,400 | Half a day |
| Stainless liner | $1,800 to $4,500 | 1 day |
A galvanized lid has about eight to ten good years. After that, the corners rust through and the drip begins. We replace them with stainless or a heavier gauge, bent to your exact dimensions, and we check the siding underneath for staining while we are up there.
Many Orleans homes got high-efficiency furnaces that vent out the side. That leaves an empty gas liner in the chimney, and the nesting starlings follow. We pull the old liner and cap the flue, or we rebuild the top if the brick has gone.
The 1998 ice storm left eastern Ontario without power for days, and plenty of east-end families put a wood stove in the basement afterwards. Those stoves, now 25 years old, often have liners that were never replaced. A camera scan tells you whether yours is still sound.
Most of our Orleans customers have one chimney and one question. Is it safe to burn this winter? We answer it in an hour. We sweep, we look, and we tell you what to do. If nothing needs doing, the visit ends with your invoice and a photo.
If something does need doing, you get the repair priced in writing, not on a napkin on the roof. We were in Orleans about 50 times last year, and that is why we know which subdivisions have which chimney.
We climb up, look, and send you the price in writing. If a chimney needs nothing but a sweep, that is all you pay for.
Contact UsInsurers and buyers sometimes ask for one on a wood stove or insert. We arrange it with a partner inspector.
Contact UsSpring and summer, usually within a week or two. In fall, the wait can reach two weeks or more, because every east-end homeowner books at once. If a leak or a blocked flue can't wait, say so on the phone and we will try to fit you in.
No. Orleans pays what the rest of Ottawa pays. The crew is based in the east end, so the drive is short, and the price on your written estimate already includes it. Nothing gets added at the end except HST.
Yes, if you burn wood in it. The metal flue inside the siding collects creosote like any other chimney. The chase cover on top needs a look every few years, because it rusts, and the siding stains first. We check both on a sweep visit.
Yes. We lay drop sheets, brush the stovepipe and the chimney from the roof or the stove end, and vacuum up the soot. Stoves with long horizontal pipe runs fill up faster, so we may suggest a sweep twice a winter if you burn every day.
About an hour for a standard sweep. We put drop sheets down at the fireplace, brush the flue from the top or the bottom, vacuum the soot and check the cap, crown and flashing before we leave. You get a short note on what we found, and a photo if there is anything worth showing.
