For a chimney sweep in Kanata, ON, Ottawa Precision Chimney Sweep sweeps the flue, looks over the cap, crown and flashing, and repairs what has worn out. Kanata has plenty of siding-covered chimneys and wood stoves, so we replace chase covers, fit new caps, reline flues and fix leaks around the roofline. We write the price down before work starts.

Kanata is on the far side of the city from our base, so we group west-end jobs on the same days to keep the visit price the same as in the east. Here is what keeps us busy in Kanata:
We schedule west-end work together, so one day in Kanata may fill with three or four neighbours on the same street. If a friend on your block needs a sweep, book on the same day and ask about timing. A group visit makes the schedule easier for everyone.
Tell us your street when you call. We keep a running list of west-end addresses by week, and a spot near another job is easier to fit. The price on your written estimate is the same either way.
Contact UsKanata was planned in the 1960s by developer Bill Teron around a technology park, and it became its own city in 1978. About 98,938 people lived in the former city at the 2021 census, and most of its houses date from the 1970s through the 2000s. We were in Kanata about 40 times last year.
In a lot of Kanata's townhouses and two-storeys, the chimney is a framed box with siding on the outside and a metal flue inside. The flat lid on top rusts first. Once rust shows on the siding below, water is already behind the cladding. A new stainless chase cover fixes it for decades. We've replaced about 30 of these covers in Kanata since 2015.
Kanata sits at the west edge of the National Capital Greenbelt, with open land and Highway 417 nearby. The wind has room to build and drives rain at the south and west faces. Flashing and mortar on those sides wear faster, so that is where we look first.
Kanata began as part of March Township, first settled by Europeans in the early 19th century. A few older stone and brick farmhouses still stand at the edges, and their chimneys are the real thing. Those flues are worth a camera scan before anyone lights a fire.
Chimney repair in Kanata costs $350 to $1,500 for most small jobs in 2026, and $1,800 to $4,500 for a liner. The price is the same as in the rest of Ottawa. Roof height and pitch change it, and so does a second flue. We write it after the roof visit.
| Repair | Typical price in Kanata | Time on site |
|---|---|---|
| Chase cover, stainless | $450 to $1,400 | Half a day |
| Flashing repair | $350 to $1,500 | Half a day |
| Crown seal or patch | $350 to $1,000 | 1 day |
| Stainless liner | $1,800 to $4,500 | 1 day |
Look at the top corners from the street. Rust streaks on the siding, a lid that sits crooked or a visible puddle on top mean the cover is done. A rusted one doesn't leak the first day, but it leaks on the first thaw, and by then the insulation behind the siding is wet.
No. A gas fireplace is not built for wood, and its flue is a different size and type. If you want a wood fire, the right job is an insert or a masonry fireplace with a stainless liner. We can look at what you have and tell you what is possible.
Shared stacks are rare, but they exist on a few older rows. Work on one affects the neighbour, so we coordinate with the condo board or the owners before touching it. A written report goes to both sides, and the cost is split in the way the owners agree.
Condo boards in Kanata often book a sweep for a whole row in one visit, which brings the per-unit price down. If your board is asking, send us the number of units and we will quote for the lot.
We climb up, look, and send you the price in writing. If a chimney needs nothing but a sweep, that is all you pay for.
Contact UsInsurers and buyers sometimes ask for one on a wood stove or insert. We arrange it with a partner inspector.
Contact UsYes, for sweeps, inspections, caps, covers and flashing, as long as the roof is safe to climb. Masonry waits for temperatures above about 5 degrees C. If you have an urgent leak in January, we seal it for now and plan the permanent fix for spring.
A sweep in Kanata costs $175 to $325 in 2026, and a camera scan adds $75 to $150 on top. Taller roofs and difficult access cost more. We give you the number in writing once we have looked, and HST is added to the invoice.
If the top is a flat metal lid with the flue sticking out of it, you have a chase cover and a cap over the flue. Both need to be in good shape. Send us a photo and we'll tell you what you have and what it needs.
Yes. Book us before your conditions come off. We send a written report with photos the next day or two, covering the cap, crown, flashing, brick and flue. The report helps you negotiate repairs, or confirm the chimney is fine.
Your insurer decides. Many ask for one when you buy a house with a stove or add one. We arrange the WETT report through a partner inspector and handle any sweeping or repairs it calls for, so you deal with one company.
